He Loves Us

Lately I've felt slightly dead; out of it; dormant... But at the worship service at our church they played my favorite, favorite song which just brought me to tears. lyrics below:

He is jealous for me
Love's like a hurricane, I am a tree
Bending beneath the weight of His wind and mercy
When all of a sudden, I am unaware of these afflictions eclipsed by glory
and I realize just how beautiful You are and how great your affections are for me.
Oh, how He loves us so
Oh, how He loves us
How He loves us so.

Yeah, He loves us
Whoa, how He loves us
Whoa, how He loves us
Whoa, how He loves.

We are His portion and He is our prize,
Drawn to redemption by the grace in His eyes
If grace is an ocean we're all sinking
So heaven meets earth like a sloppy wet kiss and my heart turns violently inside of my chest
I don't have time to maintain these regrets when I think about the way

That he loves us,
Whoa, how He loves us
Whoa, how He loves us
Whoa, how He loves

It's hard to take almost. How on earth could he love... me. Me who

1: Bickers and squabbles with and scolds siblings at the drop of a hat
2: Neglects odd jobs and such, yet still patronizes others who do the same
3: Thinks to much about what she can do for her own happiness, and not nearly enough about what others think
4: All of the above

Put that together with John 14:15 - If you love me, you will obey what I command.

Think about it. Every time you sin; disobey God's commands... you are causing pain to one who loves you SO so so much. It's heart wrenching.
Hopefully I've woken up to Gods love and have quit taking it for granted. I had a great time dancing after wards, and feel very refreshed.

I love when God wakes me up too.

You sound very mature in your walk, Shilohanne. The closer you get to Jesus, the more you see His glory, the more you realize what a wretch you are. But, that just takes you back to the fact that your righteousness is in Christ alone. God looks at you and He sees Christ in you. That's where your justification lies. Isn't He a gracious and merciful God to love us so much, in spite of who we know we really are? My favorite verse is 1 Corinthians 1:26-31...He chose the weak and the foolish. That's me and you. It's a good reminder of who I am and why I need Him! :)
