Regina Spektor, The Call

This is my new favorite song. It is played after Prince Caspian (the first song in the credits).

failing on the job =X

So, so much for chick pics. I don't even have any yet. Maybe I'm to lazy to actually do it. When I actually take some I will get them up, but as of now they have not materialized =(

Chicks!

Today two of our eggs hatched!! One of our hens has been sitting on some eggs, and since we have a rooster they were fertilized. Actually, we don't know if they hatched today or not, but thats when we found them. They are so small that one of them had fit through the chicken wire, so my mom put them in a box inside the cage. They are in a different cage than our chicken coop, because the rest of the chickens had tormented our poor sitting hen.
One chick is black, and one is speckled gray and white. I will post pictures soon =D

Honey Honey Honey

A random post with poems and thoughts and story's and pictures... Theme: Honey

The Pedigree of Honey ~ Emily Dickinson
The pedigree of honey
Does not concern the bee;
A clover, any time, to him
Is aristocracy.
(wow, thats a thought. You cant afford to be picky; Just be thankful for what you have and enjoy it)

Mackenzie

My little sister Mackenzie (age 5) knows a secret... well I guess it's not really a secret, but in one side of our oven (a very old fashion oven) that we don't use, my mom keeps a gallon of honey. We keep it there so it stays soft (otherwise it crystallizes). Anyway, Mackenzie knows it's there and often you can see her sneak the oven open to savor a sweet, sticky, golden fingerful of honey.

Peas
I eat my peas with honey
I've done it all my life
It makes my peas taste funny
But it keeps them on my knife

Where is my Honey? ~ A Whinny the Pooh Poem

It's very, very funny,
'Cos I know I had some honey;
'Cos it had a label on,
Saying HUNNY.
A goloptious full-up pot too,
And I don't know where it's got to,
No, I don't know where it's gone-
Well, it's funny.

More From Pooh (as he climbs a tree)
It's a very funny thought
that, if Bears were Bees
They'd build their nests at the bottom of trees
And that being so (if Bees were Bears)
We shouldn't have to climb up all these stairs.

Poem

Here is a poem I wrote today. Spring is here (hopefully for good) =D
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As winter starts to lift its face and wave its flag,
And put a touch of spring into each brightened step;
As fairies spread a soft green blanket over all
Earth displays the warmth that she, till now, has kept.
The melodies suppressed by winter’s gloomy face
Are beckoned out to sing and dance with sunny rays
And as the birds are singing to the waking world,
The children dance along with each rejoicing day.
How do colors intertwine and blossom here,
What art replaces winter as it melts away?
What magic brings such miracles that now appear?
Is Earth the canvas of the Artist painting over grey?
The Great Magician orchestrates each tiny change,
His breath, the breeze that dances with your hair
His ornaments, the stars that decorate the skies
His hands unwrap each bud to bring us flowers fair
I feel the change in nature’s countenance
A permeating joy has seeped through one and all
I cannot help but feel it as I venture out
And join in praise with nature to it’s one and all
Theme Parks
A sequence of events:
1) You hear you are going to go to Great America (for free), and you are going to see cool bands to boot
2) You build a picture in your mind of what your day will be like; paradise! you will go on every cool ride and it will be amazing
3) You get to the theme park and, after building a picture of "riding every cool ride", you get in 3 roller coasters in 3 hours.
That is my speculation on theme parks. Your picture perfect day reveals itself in each three minute segment that you are on a ride, but for the most part is only fantasy. (For instance those hour waits in lines... =P)
I had a wonderful time at Great America even though my speculation is perfectly true: it NEVER turns out like you would imagine. Switchfoot was still amazing, the roller coasters were still crazy fun... but here is the other half of my speculation.
People are SO lost!!!!
Luckily the day we went there was a large contingent that was Christian, but even then you see the whole spectrum of humanity at theme parks. It makes me so sorry for the people who dont know God. They try to fill up their lives with "fun stuff". They say "Lets do something fun... how about Great America!" and then comes the first part of my speculation again. The "lost people" imagine up their picture perfect day for themselves and everything works out perfectly (in their mind). The day comes and they put on their happy face, they dress up with bones in their hair (no really! there was a girl with bones in her hair)... but they only catch a glimpse of the picture perfect day. It doesn't end up like they thought it would, and it certainly doesn't fill up the void as they had hoped. It is empty, shallow and frivolous.
So I enjoyed myself, (even through all the things I wouldn't have planned for my day. ie. losing my ticket, waiting in long lines, misplacing our car) but it wasn't because the theme park was everything I ever wished. But because God was present. He is the only thing good enough, real enough, big enough and deep enough to fill the void.
More Fun with Asher
Asher, one night, was rambling on about "Dark Vader" and "Dark Mall" and "Dark Vader is different then "Dark Mall". Right before he went to sleep he said this...
"Dark Vader has a life-saver..."
;)
I Love Friends & Family
Its kinda something we don't think about so much, but isn't it true? Having relationships with those around you is what makes life special! Close friends, family members...
Just imagine what it would be like if God had never created Eve; and Adam lived forever just on the earth all alone with NOBODY else. Torture!
I am so thankful to have friends, and I think God put me in just the right family.
Romans 12:10
Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves.
